Making a Compass

Magnets are useful!

Did you know that when you know a bit about magnets, you can make a compass?

Compasses work because they contain magnets, which always point North when they are suspended.

We magnetised a needle by rubbing a magnet along it and floated it water.

Every time it turned in the water and pointed North.

We thought that was very cool!
